Restaurant Waitlist × Airport Departure Board
Jul 8, 2026 · 2hr
My Interpretation
I treated the waitlist as a guest-facing board rather than a host tool, so the columns were reduced to the information diners actually need: their number, party name, estimated minutes, and whether they have been called. The motion leans into a split-flap feeling, while each row uses a dot-matrix board language to keep the airport departure reference clear without making the interface feel overly operational.

AI Recipe
Design a modern bistro waitlist as an airport departure board, but make it guest-facing instead of operational. Show only number, party, estimated minutes, and call status.
Use dot-matrix typography throughout the board. The title should be built from dots, and each row should feel like a mechanical split-flap display with individual character tiles.
Create subtle split-flap updates for the rows and animate the title ellipsis so the board feels live without becoming distracting.
